SUMMARY OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND KEY PERSONNEL

CHAIR - DR RONA TUTT OBE PhD, MA, BA (Hons), Adv. Dip. SEN, Dip NCTD, Dip RD (Open) is a former Head of a Special School and past president of the National Association of Head Teachers. She has considerable experience with special needs education, and in politics in relation to education and special needs.  In 2003, she was the winner of the Leadership in Teaching Award. In February 2004, she received an OBE for her services to special needs education. Rona is a well known speaker and is undertaking postdoctoral research into co-existing and overlapping disorders, and has two books in preparation.

SECRETARY - PROFESSOR DAVID RUSSELL is highly experienced in all aspects of the catering industry and has a keen interest in nutrition. He is Professor of Hospitality & Tourism at Thames Valley University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Prior to forming The Russell Partnership, the UK’s leading strategic food consultancy, he was Food and Beverage Director for the 240 Forte (UK) Limited Hotels. David read Hospitality Management at Leeds, is a Freeman of the City of London and mentors a number of leading hospitality services directors within the university and commercial sector.

MARO LIMNIOS LL.B Hons solicitor, DipION is a lawyer and a nutritional therapist, with considerable business experience, primarily as a legal advisor in the shipping industry. She is a trustee of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition,  St Andrew’s Greek Cathedral Trust  and Saint Sophia Greek Cathedral School.

MICHAEL METCALFE MSc (Mathematics), DMS was a director of E D & F Man Group plc, a director of LIFFE and a member of the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the FSA. He has a keen interest in mental health and has experiece of fund raising in the sector. Michael recently co-commissioned the report ‘Don’t Mind Me’ published by New Philanthropy Capital. He has considerable business experience, primarily in food, commodities and futures markets and is currently Chairman of Strontium plc.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE - PATRICK HOLFORD BSc(Hons) (psychology), DipION, FBANT is founder of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, in 1984, an educational charity, and the Brain Bio Centre, in 2003. He is an author of over 20 books including Optimum Nutrition for the Mind, The Alzheimer’s Prevention Plan, and is a lecturer and TV presenter, frequently appearing on GMTV and Tonight with Trevor McDonald as a nutrition expert. He is a Fellow of the British Association of Nutritional Therapists.

SCHOOL CAMPAIGN DIRECTOR - KERRY TORRENS BSc(Hons), FCCA, AMCT, MBANT, DipION is a nutritional therapist with a strong business background having qualified as an Accountant and Treasurer, and project management. She started her career in catering and left Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a Senior Manager. In 2005 she won an award for Promoting Awareness of Nutrition in the Community due her work at the University of Surrey helping students with mental health problems recover through improved nutrition. She is nutritionist for the student focused cookery/food website www.beyondbakedbeans.com

FINANCIAL CONTROLLER – MIKE JAMES MHICIMA, MIMC
Mike is responsible for financial modelling and control on a part-time basis. He was formerly Divisional Commercial Director for Forte Restaurants. Mike had direct control over the delivery of profit through the development and maintenance of systems and procedures covering capital expenditure, revenue, administration and contracts for a business with a total turnover of £185m. Mike is the Financial Partner of the Russell Partnership, the UK’s leading strategic food consultancy.
