What we do

We are an outpatient clinical treatment centre, specialising in the 'optimum nutrition' approach to mental health problems.  The centre offers a comprehensive assessment of biochemical imbalances that can contribute to mental health problems, and advice to correct these imbalances as a means to restore health.

What happens at a consultation

The first 1 hour appointment with the Nutritional Therapist (and a Brief Psychiatric Assessment with our psychiatrist, if necessary) would involve a review of your health history.  At this point, the Nutritional Therapist will recommend tests and preliminary dietary advice or supplements which they feel are appropriate for you while awaiting test results.

Where possible, we recommend that clients go to the laboratory to carry out tests on the same day - directions to the lab will be provided at the end of the consultation.

Once tests results have come back from the laboratory, we will contact you to arrange a 1 hour follow-up appointment.  The Nutritional Therapist will go through the test results with you and tailor a dietary and supplement programme for you.

Subsequent appointments with the Nutritional Therapist generally last for half an hour, unless you feel you require longer to discuss your progress.  In general, most people meet with a therapist three to four times over the course of about six months.  They generally meet with the psychiatrist once or twice.

A 20 minute Brief Psychiatric Assessment with our pyschiatrist may be required on the day of the initial appointment with the nutritional therapist.  We will adivse you about this when booking your appointment.  A more extensive Full Psychiatric Assessment appointment (40 minutes) with the psychiatrist is also available to clients upon request.
