Autistic children benefit from a gluten and casein free diet. Knivsber A et al, Nutr Neurosci, 5(4):251-61, 2002

Details

Markers of intolerance to gluten and casein (cereal and milk proteins) are reported in the urine of autistic children, with possible effects on development of the nervous system. In this study, the effects of a diet free of gluten and casein on the development of 10 autistic children over a year were observed. The development for the group of children on the diet was significantly better than for the children not on the diet.
