Essential fat levels lower in boys with ADHD compared to 'healthy' controls. L J Stevens et al, Am J Clin Nutr, 62(4), 761-8, 1995

Details

The authors hypothesised that some children with ADHD have altered fatty acid metabolism. This study found that 53 boys with ADHD had significantly lower concentrations of key fatty acids in plasma and in red blood cells than did the 43 boys who did not have ADHD. The reason for lower fatty acid concentrations in some children with ADHD is not clear.
