Vitamin E slows progression of moderately severe Alzheimer's Disease. Sano, N Engl J Med., 336(17):1216-22,1997

Details

A total of 341 patients with moderately severe Alzheimer’s received an MAOI antideperessant selegiline (10 mg a day), alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E, 2000 IU a day), both selegiline and alpha-tocopherol or placebo for two years. The treatments appeared to slow the progression of the disease compared to placebo in the following order: vitamin E, selegiline, and then the combination therapy.
