Alzheimer’s isn’t something you suddenly get, like an infection. It isn’t the natural consequence of ageing nor is it genetic. Only 1% is caused by genes. It is a true disease which means we can identify the causes and prevent them. Help us find the risk factors and how to reduce them. That’s the aim of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Project.

We already know about homocysteine, a toxic amino acid that damages the brain, which can be lowered with inexpensive B vitamins. "This is the first treatment that has been shown to potentially arrest Alzheimer’s related brain shrinkage", says Professor David Smith from Oxford University who has reported a 53% decrease in the rate of brain shrinkage in those with high homocysteine levels given inexpensive B vitamins.

One in two over 65 have insufficient levels of B vitamins to stop accelerated brain shrinkage. You could be one of them.

To support our Alzheimer’s Prevention campaign, YorkTest are offering Friends of Food for the Brain £50 off (£99 instead of £149) a quick and easy home-to-laboratory finger prick homocysteine test that delivers reliable laboratory results within just 10 days. Please become a Friend of Food for the Brain (click the Donate button above) to find out how to redeem this offer.

We need your help now to prevent people like you getting Alzheimer’s later. Help us learn the best ways to prevent Alzheimer’s and tell the world about it.

Alzheimer's - don't bury your head in the sand. ACTION now means PREVENTION later.

Please give generously.
